Some dreams take time to find their place. For Bernd Trompel, that place turned out to be the hills overlooking Lake Naivasha.
From Germany to Kenya
A journey that began in 2009.
Bernd Trompel's connection to Kenya began in 2009, when he first arrived in the country after years of living in Germany.
What started as a new chapter eventually became a lasting connection to Kenya. Bernd spent part of his journey on the beautiful south coast, in Diani Beach, where he created Zavani, a private holiday villa.
But beyond the coast, another dream was quietly taking shape: a life in the countryside, surrounded by nature, with a home of his own and horses close by.
Years later, that dream would lead him to the Kisuri Hills overlooking Lake Naivasha, where House of Horses was born.
A New Chapter in Naivasha
The countryside was calling.
Then the dream became a decision.
Bernd began creating the home he had always imagined.
A home surrounded by nature. Stables of his own. Horses close by. And views across one of Kenya's most beautiful landscapes.
House of Horses grew from that vision.
Sharing the Dream

What began as a personal retirement dream gradually became something Bernd wanted to share.
With just two safari tents, House of Horses welcomes guests into a small corner of the countryside that means a great deal to him.
It isn't about grand gestures or a long list of activities. It's about the simple things: quiet surroundings, time outdoors, the company of horses and the feeling of being somewhere that has been created with genuine care.
Connection to Zavani
From the coast to the countryside.
Before House of Horses, Bernd created Zavani in Diani Beach, a private villa on Kenya's beautiful south coast.
Although the two properties offer very different experiences, they share something important: a personal approach to hospitality and a love for the places that make Kenya special.
From the Indian Ocean to the hills of Naivasha, each property has its own story to tell.
